| Danny McGuigan was born in Belfast,
N. Ireland.
He now lives in Glasgow where he is Centre Director
of The Business Development Centre (BDC).
He specialises in delivering the following executive training and
development interventions:
- Leadership Development Training – one to one
and small groups
- Mentoring, coaching and
teambuilding for top performance
Danny also provides support to organisations as
they navigate culture change processes, mediation, conciliation
and training processes for resolving conflict, guiding individuals
and organisations on work / life balance issues, management skills
training – one to one and small groups as well as guiding organisations
on personnel recruitment & retention.

Danny’s higher education began with an honours degree
in economics at the Queens University of Belfast, graduating in
1976, and was followed by four post-graduate awards including his
recent PhD for research in HRM at The University of Strathclyde.
Danny’s doctoral research focused on “The friendship experiences
of senior managers in organisations…” where he also explored the
associated factors that influence individual and collective wellbeing
and performance in organisations.

Training career with Siemens AG: Danny began his
career in international management training with Siemens as a training
and development specialist at the Siemens International Training
Centre at Feldafing, near Munich. During his time in Munich he also
contributed to specialist courses at the British Council.

portfolio is a reflection of the public, private and non-profit
organisations across Europe and includes NHS Scotland, the European
Patent Office (EPO) in Munich, The Hague, Berlin and Vienna, the
Disney Corporation (Munich), Cadbury (Ireland), Siemens AG, Fujitsu-Siemens
(Europe-wide), Institute of Healthcare Managers (UK), the Strathclyde
University Graduate School of Business, the University of Glasgow
Staff Development Service, Glasgow School of Art, BSkyB Broadcasting,
the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, Motorola and many others.
Danny has also collaborated with one of the UK’s foremost authorities
on work / life balance, Dr Stephen Williams. His experience with
Dr. William’s world-class pressure management tool, the Pressure
Management Indicator (PMI) has propelled Danny to the forefront
of this challenging subject area in Scotland. Danny is retained
by a number of Local Councils and Healthboards as an expert consultant
to facilitate their occupational rehabilitation protocols for managers.

Whilst working at Siemens AG in Munich Danny developed a network
of friends with a number of influential executives who have subsequently
commissioned him to deliver leadership development and management
training interventions for both Siemens and Fujitsu Siemens. The
target audience is fast track leadership trainees. The programme
was based in Munich and delivered in a variety of European cities.
The European Patent Office (EPO).
He is also engaged in projects at the European Patent Office in
Munich, delivering leadership development, teambuilding and coaching
programmes. His most recent commission involves residential training
workshops for HR managers at the EPO with follow-up coaching in
Munich and The Hague.
